The 2022 Donnybrook Twilight Markets was the 5th one and the turnout was the biggest yet. Over 40 market stalls, late-night shopping and entertainment for all ages with the perfect weather for a night out.
Events do not just happen with over 6 months in planning and collaboration
between several community groups including the Donnybrook Balingup Chamber of
Commerce. A team of volunteers working behind the scenes to organise event
applications, stall holders, business support and entertainment. Volunteers
from the Donnybrook Visitor Centre, Donnybrook Balingup Community Radio worked
hard to provide a free and fun night and the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup supporting
through the Community Grants Funding Scheme to assist with setting the mood and
lighting for the night from Events West.
The stage saw the unveiling of the first outing for the new equipment available to the community radio station through the 2022 Donnybrook Bendigo Bank Pitch Night grant. Nate is looking forward to many more community events like this and was a fantastic Station Platform performance with all ages singing along in the audience.
The Donnybrook Balingup Chamber of Commerce was handing out Shop Local biscuits to the community and this year’s business Christmas display competition announcement with 1st place going to Cliffords Autos, 2nd to Nourish and 3rd place to Cafe Tiffanys. The competition was very close with the final judge sealing the 3-way tie.
Bendigo Bank of Donnybrook again sponsored the highly popular bouncy castle and refreshments, Santa handed out over 300 treats on the night and was meeting and greeting everyone for well over an hour along with our Donnybrook Apple and Pear characters.
Special thanks to the Men’s Shed for assisting with setting up and packing up and the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup for providing the safety barriers and signage on the night. Thank you to the Donnybrook Police Station for ensuring Santa’s safe and sound arrival to the markets. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated in putting together a fantastic community event. Wonder what 2023 will bring.
